6,923 miles = An in-flight movie marathon

Tuesday, February 14, was all about getting from London Heathrow to Singapore. I’d intended to sleep for most of the way, but thanks to Qantas Airways I slept for less than an hour. I found myself trying to make the most of the extensive collection of movies and music, and playing games including Poker, Bejeweled and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I read the news, read about my destinations and even started a language course. I followed the flight information and looked at the world from the perspective of the Skycam attached to the plane’s tail. And whenever I thought I’d better get some sleep otherwise I’d suffer the next day, a member of the cabin crew would come past offering a Mars ice cream/pack of cheese and crackers/pizza wrap/chocolate muffin and I’d spring back to life. Anyone would think the dinner hadn’t filled me up. It was lamb potroast with caramelised onions, beans, new potatoes, and pumpkin and couscous salad, followed by orange and white chocolate mousse. The breakfast was pretty good too. I’m quite looking forward to the 11-and-a-half hour journey from Singapore to New Zealand now!
